Urge Ourselves Under

Warren Carvery Thomas Meissner Toren Schvantzi Adrian Lee

The short direct direct line connecting the art to the self is often uncomfortable for the artist, the result being they spend an inordinate amout of effort trying to shield themselves from scrutiny. The resultant micro-managing of the work can be stultifying for everyone, draining off much of the immediacy and candour that would give the it any actual necessity.

The artists here have spent the last few months bearing down on elements and forms that are already trivial, decorative, or formally bankrupt. This has not only been pleasurable, but more importantly, has allowed (unpoliced by the artist's fear of exposure) significant and real information to develop and emerge uncensored.
